Inspired by Everyone Loving Books

Connecting communities one book at a time.

Working to serve communities of readers of all ages is what Run for Cover Bookstore strives for.

It may be a cliché to say books change lives but we have experienced it first-hand and continue to witness it every day.

Our amazing customers, avid readers and supporters of our work allow us to give back in many ways.

We use some of our profits to support our local baseball league, local school events, and the local holiday toy and food drive. We also use some of our profits to curate book and gift bags for individuals who may have a harder time at specific moments of the year (i.e., Mother's Day). These are some of the examples of our every day involvement in the community we work in.

Our business mission is also to support and enhance the voices of more marginalized people in our communities. The books we sell and support amplify diversity in every shape and form. We know books are expensive and cannot be afforded by everyone.

But we also believe that together we can make a small dent of a difference.

With that in mind we have created Adopt-A-Reader

Every school year (10 months), RFC supporters contribute $15/month which sponsors one child in a classrom to receive 1 to 2 books a month. The classrooms are located at schools within the district that have high needs students, some of whom cannot afford books of their own. The books given through the Adopt-A-Reader program are for the children to keep and build their own personal libraries at home. Because being surrounded by books fosters the love of reading, we want to give that chance to every child possible.

We started the program during the pandemic school year of 2020-2021 by sponsoring one 6th grade class in National City. With your help, we intend to grow the program to more children and classes each year.
Making a difference one book at a time. Thank you!
